Our ancestors used acorns extensively as a food source and even for medicine. Join this family friendly exploration of this seasonal bounty as we collect, process and turn the humble acorn into flour!
Once the hard work is done we then delve into baking with acorn flour using some exciting recipes and campfire cookery techniques to make muffins, ash cakes, pancakes and bannocks!
Learn about the nutritional value of acorns and how our ancestors used this wonder food as well as lots of of other interesting facts about the magical oak tree.
This is an action packed day out in nature where everyone can get involved! Suitable for children 6 - 16 yrs old (who must be accompanied by an adult) but also for adults!
Acorn Workshop Details
This course is run from a spectacular ancient oak wood nestled by the banks of the River Tay close to Aberfeldy in Highland Perthshire, Scotland. The site is quiet and secluded with plenty of acorns! The wood is full of wildlife and we are truly privileged to be able to run tis workshop from this special site.

This site is easily accessible from the A9 and we are only 1.5hrs from both Edinburgh and Glasgow. We are well served by train too, with a station at Dunkeld. There is also a bus service from Dunkeld train station which stops right at the meeting point in Grandtully village.
